Elementary School (Kindergarten - Grade 4)
FSA’s elementary school provides an academically challenging curriculum. Small student-teacher ratios are crucial to FSA’s approach, which begins on each child’s level, provides appropriate learning challenges and recognizes the gifts that each child brings. Teachers work to instill self confidence in students while also emphasizing their role as members of a community. There is a balanced educational program offering freedom of exploration and inquiry as well as guided instruction across core academic areas. Conflict resolution, creative problem solving and meditation are central to the educational experience.
The youngest classes learn through a developmentally appropriate curriculum that builds on the math, reading and writing skills introduced in previous years and includes science, social studies and geography topics. Older elementary students pursue a cross-curricular program that integrates science, language arts, social studies and geography while they hone the reading, writing, spelling and math skills they use every day.
