Community
Community Groups
One Friday each month, our entire school gathers in the afternoon for a special assembly, a time set aside to celebrate our sense of community and to foster connections across all grade levels.
The first assembly is particularly exciting as we introduce our new community groups, also known as “houses.” These groups are designed to bring together students and faculty/staff from different grades, encouraging friendships that span across the entire school. Throughout the year, these groups will participate in Community in Action days, giving everyone a chance to work together, learn from each other, and strengthen our school’s unity.

Each house is more than just a group; it’s a vibrant community where students and faculty/staff will come together to live out the SPICE principles—simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship—values that guide everything we do at The Friends School of Atlanta
Community In Action
At The Friends School of Atlanta, Community Time gathers us to listen, celebrate, and set shared intentions. Community in Action Days are where those intentions become action. On these schoolwide days, students work in mixed-age House groups on hands-on projects that serve our campus and community—garden and ecology work, supply drives, neighborhood cleanups, arts for advocacy, and more.
Each project is framed by the SPICES values and includes time to reflect on impact and next steps. By moving from reflection to action and back again, students practice collaboration, leadership, and stewardship while strengthening a sense of belonging. Community in Action Days make Community Time real—showing students that care, courage, and curiosity can shape the world around them.
